This renovation project expanded the existing Wells Commons building and updated it to provide an air-conditioned and modern student dining facility on the first floor and banquet rooms on the second floor.
The first floor was transformed into a multi-restaurant retail area with outdoor dining areas and banquet space. Special features include a stone hearth pizza oven and a convenience store.
The second level is now accessible via elevator and hosts two large and one small meeting spaces with movable partitions to create accommodations for larger groups. The second floor also provides an open, glassed-in function space that overlooks the athletics complexes.
This project is seeking LEED Certification through incorporation of green product use, low voc paints, green certified mechanical and electrical products and U39 rated glazing.
The project accomplished approximately 85% on the recycling of construction debris from the site.
