18 years ago, we were low bid on the Sebasticook Middle School in Newport- which today would be $15M school. Lee Bryant Sr. finished it as Superintendent. Today, we were re-hired to begin renovations to this building. Our Superintendent? The son of the original builder, Leroy Bryant JUNIOR… who was a toddler when we cut the original ribbon in 2002.

As spring finally arrives, work progress is surging at our 216,000-sf new Nokomis High School and Middle School in Newport! We open the middle school portion in August and the high School in December! Awesome work done by a 100% Maine construction team!

We have been named the Construction Manager for the $1.5M Millinocket Memorial Library Addition & Renovations project. We built the original structure and helped dedicate it a week before Karl, our President & C.E.O., was born, on December 11, 1963. Our original project sign is still in the attic. We are proud to now extend the life of our creation for another 6 decades!

Earlier this month, Karl returned to the Nickerson & O’Day-built Challenger Learning Center of Maine in Bangor- a project he managed back in 2004- to help celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Center’s Grand Opening and to present co-founder and longtime friend, Dick Catelle and the Challenger staff a check as part of a continuing pledge to support STEM education in Maine.

Work continues on the new $2.5M Husson Student Wellness Center, the latest Nickerson & O’Day, Inc. addition to this ever-growing campus! Our framing crews are doing a great job despite the tough weather!

It was great to return to the wonderful Downeast Community Hospital where we presented a $6,000.00 check as part of our continuing pledge to support this important healthcare resource! Here is Karl Ward presenting the gift to DECH CEO Steve Lail inside the Pediatric Treatment Room which we built as part of a recently-completed $5M Emergency Department Addition there. Some tremendously dedicated Downeasters doing great work!

BREWER (NEWS CENTER Maine) – The OHI Brewer Food Pantry receives a literal truckload of food supplies days before Thanksgiving. The Brewer-based construction company Nickerson & O’Day delivered the items on Tuesday, November 20. This marks the sixth year in a row Nickerson and O’Day has delivered a truck full of supplies.
