On a breezy December day, nearly 3 years after the project was first conceived by the Town of Orland, Nickerson & O’Day facilitated a groundbreaking for the new Orland Fire Station. “We have had our eye on this project since early 2021 when we first heard rumblings about it within town circles” said Randy Chute, NOD Project Manager. NOD also retained the same design firm that produced the feasibility study for the town in 2021 to be responsible for the final design, Lewis + Malm Architecture of Bucksport. Local subcontractors and vendors will be utilized wherever possible. The project is getting started at a time when other projects are shutting down for the winter. NOD crews will utilize ground thaw equipment and insulating blankets to prevent frost and freezing temperatures from hampering progress. If all goes well during construction a ribbon cutting will be held in fall of 2024 to welcome firefighters into their new home.
