DETAILS:

In this multi-phased effort, Nickerson & O'Day, Inc. performed very extensive investigative demolition of the existing buildings (constructed from 1843 to 1848) to determine their structural capability.

To assist in fundraising, Nickerson & O'Day also performed extra data gathering/estimating for the purpose of owner grant application and converted the project to prevailing wage labor rates once public monies became available for construction

Serious construction had begun  in early 2008 on the structural/facade work while fundraising continues.

Currently in Phase I of the construction process, the building's interior is under demolition. The exterior windows and entrances are being replaced as well as four levels of flooring as needed. Follow-on phases will include build-out and complete utilities as funds become available.

Patience and perseverance is key to this projects success. Nickerson & O'Day has plenty of both.

When completed this former bank building will be home to Bangor regional historical artifacts including extensive Civil War artifacts and two copies of the Declaration of Independence.
